Jean-Pierre UGARTE

Born in 1951

“The fantastic realism of vision”

Ugarte graduated from l’Ecole National des Beaux-Arts of Bordeaux in 1971, and has works in the permanent collection of 5 museums in France such as Musée Ingres and Musée des Beaux Arts of Pau.

His sober yet powerful work, beautifully painted and drawn, possesses a unity of style, a sober tone and an inspired energy which, with just a few colors, breathes vibrant life into shapes and light.

Beneath a fantasy appearance, his work is a very realistic vision, where cubes of black concrete stand like cliffs within vast landscapes, in opposition with an all-powerful Nature.

His landscapes take us to a dream world, where life is peaceful and calm, where the forest is full of elves and fairies.

All the magic is there hidden under the trees and behind the rocks. The adventure will lead us to the paradise.
